The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McLaren tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lil III swats him away and circles back towards the center.
McLaren lands a jab to the nose.
Lil III connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
McLaren checks the leg kick.
McLaren has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Lil III blocks a head kick by McLaren.
McLaren pulls out of a head kick attempt.

McLaren swings and misses with a hook to the body.
McLaren is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
McLaren tries to clinch but Lil III is having none of it.

Lil III closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. McLaren did well to prevent Lil III getting side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
