Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Whales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Denard Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Whales comes into the arena with AC/DC - Shoot To Thrill blaring out of the sound system. Denard Black has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Patrick Whales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 17 - 2, fighting out of St Petersburg, Denard Black!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Russell Pearce and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whales displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Black throws out the jab.
Black avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Whales shoots in and gets a takedown into Black's guard.
Black wants to get back to his feet but Whales is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Whales wants to pass the guard but Black is keeping the position.
Black keeping moving, preventing Whales from controlling successfully.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Whales shoots in looking for a takedown but Black manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Whales's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Whales closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Whales wants to pass to mount but Black is defending the position.

Black is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Whales scores with a couple of nice shots.

Black pushes Whales off and gets back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Black has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Black uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Whales.
Black unleashes a big counter combination but Whales bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Black stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Whales closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Whales throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Patrick Whales seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Black counters with a crisp one two that drops Whales! Black thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Whales to his feet! Whales is in big trouble!
Black drops his hands momentarily and Whales takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Whales pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Whales swings for the body but Black moves out of range.
Black gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It looks like Patrick Whales has been cut.
Whales uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Black.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Whales lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Black has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Black and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Whales throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Black looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Black walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Whales shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Whales bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Whales has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Whales creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Black sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Black parries the strikes from Whales easily there. Whales is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Black to escape.
Whales looks up at the clock and then as Black takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Whales smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Whales slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

BOOM! Whales connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Black's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Black squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Black is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Whales! Black is hurt baaadly! Whales is firing away with more strikes - Black is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 4, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Patrick Whales!
Patrick Whales decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
