Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Luther Meyers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Scott Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Peterson as Meyers shoots in.

Peterson has managed to clinch.
Peterson tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Meyers avoids it.
Meyers goes for a takedown attempt but Peterson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A low kick from Peterson misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Peterson instigates a clinch.

Peterson pulls guard.
Peterson is adopting a defensive guard.
Let's hope that Peterson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Meyers has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Peterson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Peterson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Meyers doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Meyers manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Meyers drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Meyers jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Peterson pulls Meyers in close to prevent any damage.

Peterson keeps trying to improve his position.

Meyers thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Meyers is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Peterson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Peterson has escaped and now he's on top!

Peterson is working Meyers over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Meyers has a closed guard, preventing Peterson from standing up.

Peterson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's time! Meyers's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Peterson throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Meyers is looking for a counter combo.
Peterson throws a right hand that Meyers ducks under and follows up with a left that Meyers also avoids with ease.
Peterson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A head kick by Peterson misses
and Meyers counters with a good, hard body kick but Peterson shrugs it off.

Peterson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Peterson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Meyers is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Meyers is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Meyers really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Meyers is trying to escape the position but Peterson is controlling the position.

Peterson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Meyers keeps working.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Meyers is being controlled here.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Peterson throws a lazy head kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Peterson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Meyers is trying to defend but Peterson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Peterson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Meyers knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Meyers is looking to improve his position.
Peterson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Peterson tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Meyers.

Meyers has hold of Peterson's hands but Peterson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Peterson winds up and cracks Meyers with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The fighters are battling for position here. Meyers manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Peterson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Meyers works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Peterson is stalling in the full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Meyers tries to keep at a distance but Peterson has taken the fight into the clinch.

Meyers breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Meyers is looking to clinch.

Peterson clinches up with Meyers and pushes him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Peterson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Peterson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Meyers quickly recovers to half guard.

Meyers is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Peterson scores with a couple of nice shots.
Scott Peterson has got the better of the ground game so far.
Peterson content to control rather than advance.
Peterson is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Meyers!

Oooooh, big shot lands for Peterson! Meyers is hurt baaadly! Peterson is firing away with more strikes - Meyers is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
