PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Abu Rock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Woody May (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). May has chosen Watch you Bleed by FFDP as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Woody May will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
May stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and May wants it to stay on the feet.
Rock connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Rock swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by May.
May getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Rock closes this distance looking for a takedown but May circles away.
May slips a jab from Rock.
May stalks Rock and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rock's face. Rock staggers backwards, shaken.
Nice sprawl there from Rock as May shoots in.
Rock has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from May finds it's way round the side to connect with Rock's head.
Rock does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Rock takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
May moves away from the strike by Rock.
May swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
May misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rock looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Woody May seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

May ducks under a wild hook from Rock.
Rock looks to score with a jab to the body but May is just out of range.
Rock pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Rock definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

May gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

May utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Rock was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

May thuds his shin into the meat of Rock's side.

That was a close round but I would say that Abu Rock will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

May throws a left that rocks Rock and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! May dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Rock regain composure!

It looks like Abu Rock has been cut.
You can see the frustration on Rock's face as May controls the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

May has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
May scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Rock keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
May closes the distance and clinches up with Rock, looking for a takedown. May pushes Rock against the cage but Rock circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
May looks to land a right hand but Rock moved out of range.
May misses with a looping left.
As May backs away, Rock returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
May swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
May throws a head kick but Rock moves out of range.

and Rock counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Rock stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. May swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Abu Rock overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Rock is in close to May's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Woody May showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Abu Rock's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Rock misses with a punch to the body.
Rock blocks an elbow strike from May.
May comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Rock throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mays head.
Rock drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
May is pressed up against the cage. Rock has hold of a leg and is looking to drag May down to the mat. May avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

May works on Rock's body with a couple of short punches.
May throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Rock drops to a knee looking for a takedown but May gets the underhooks and prevents it.
May is trying to push Rock away but Rock has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Rock lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but May circles away quickly and effectively.
May throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Rock bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Rock steps to the side to avoid the strikes from May.
Rock tries to counter with a takedown but May is quick to defend against it.

May drives through and clinches with Rock against the cage.
May tries a body shot but Rock blocks it.
Rock is trying to stall.
Rock wants to get back to striking at distance but May won't allow it.
