Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Michael Richer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam McQuaid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Michael Richer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Richer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adam McQuaid!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McQuaid slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
McQuaid displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Richer.
McQuaid throws a wild body kick that Richer sees coming a mile off.
McQuaid scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Adam McQuaid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Richer fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
McQuaid lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Richer looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McQuaid is fending him off so far but Richer persists. Nope, McQuaid circles away and we're back to standing.

Richer drops down looking for a counter takedown but McQuaid sprawls and moves away.
Richer drops his hands momentarily and McQuaid takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

and Richer counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Richer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McQuaid swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Richer is trying to control. McQuaid wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Richer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McQuaid is just riding it out for now. Richer eventually gives up the hold.

Richer is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Richer thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McQuaid's head.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Richer is sneakily working for an arm triangle but McQuaid sees it coming and defends easily.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Richer lands a nice short elbow.
McQuaid wants to control but Richer is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Richer working over McQuaid with some ground and pound. McQuaid looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Richer working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Richer is looking for a kimura here.

Richer lands with a punch from half guard.

Richer is working for a kimura but McQuaid is defending it quite comfortably.

Richer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so McQuaid is just riding it out for now. Richer eventually gives up the hold.

Richer looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Richer wants to control but McQuaid is keeping him busy.

That was a close round but I would say that Michael Richer will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A right-left combo lands from McQuaid.
Richer dives in for a single leg takedown but McQuaid sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
McQuaid is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Richer drives through with a takedown into McQuaid's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Richer lands a couple of elbows.
Richer loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Richer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
McQuaid wants to stand and escape but Richer is having none of it.

Richer has gone for a leg lock! McQuaid slips out almost immediately though and dives into Richer's guard.

McQuaid tries to free his leg and advance position but Richer is retaining full guard.

Richer is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McQuaid defends well.

Richer is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Werewolf's cave, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Richer is not content to let McQuaid control the position.
McQuaid wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Richer uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
McQuaid has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
McQuaid wants to stand but Richer is controlling his posture from full guard.
McQuaid is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Richer looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
McQuaid must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

McQuaid tries to stand but Richer is controlling from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Richer looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
McQuaid scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Michael Richer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McQuaid scores with a jab to the jaw.
McQuaid scores with a punch to the head.
A telegraphed right hand from McQuaid misses the target.
Nice shot lands for McQuaid.
Richer tries to score a power double leg takedown but McQuaid sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Richer somewhat.
McQuaid is looking to slow Richer down with leg kicks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam McQuaid showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Richer tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
McQuaid dodges the ground and pound from Richer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Richer misses with the ground and pound.

Richer wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McQuaid, who protects the arm well.

Richer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McQuaid knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Richer goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, McQuaid has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Richer but great work by McQuaid.
Richer is trying to get back to half guard.

McQuaid decides to stand up, so the ref orders Richer to his feet.

Richer shoots in and gets a takedown into McQuaid's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Richer looking to sit in guard and control but McQuaid gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Richer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McQuaid's guard.

McQuaid wants to stand but Richer is controlling the position.
McQuaid really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Richer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Richer tries to free his leg and advance position but McQuaid is retaining full guard.

Richer throws a big elbow that misses.
Richer throwing strikes but missing.
McQuaid wants to stand up but Richer is controlling him.
Richer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Richer stops McQuaid from standing up.
Richer trying to control but McQuaid is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McQuaid is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A lazy left from McQuaid finds it's target.
Richer doesn't succeed with the takedown
and McQuaid counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Richer has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from McQuaid finds it's way round the side to connect with Richer's head.
Richer staying out of range there.
McQuaid has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Richer moves away from the strike by McQuaid.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McQuaid throws a series of punches but Richer moves out of range.
McQuaid is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Richer looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McQuaid is fending him off so far but Richer persists. Nope, McQuaid circles away and we're back to standing.
Richer walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Adam McQuaid.
I think McQuaid has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
