Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Santos Mayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Regis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Santos Mayer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thiago Regis!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Regis looks for the body kick but Mayer saw that one coming.

Regis shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mayer is trying to defend but Regis finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Regis gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Mayer attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Regis shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Regis is figuring out what he wants to do next.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Regis is looking to advance position but Mayer won't allow it.

Mayer is not content to let Regis control the position.

Regis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Regis is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Mayer is staying active underneath Regis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Mayer regains half guard, as Regis was trying to land strikes.

Regis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Regis closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Regis lands in his opponent's guard.

Mayer throws his legs up looking for a submission but Regis uses it to pass to side control.

Mayer trying his best to control but Regis has mounted him.

Mayer is in all sorts of trouble here.

Regis wants to clinch up but Mayer keeps it at a distance.
Mayer is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Mayer is looking for a triangle but Regis pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mayer has his foot on Regis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Regis works his way back into a safe position though.

A lull in the action here as Regis stalls from top position.

Regis is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mayer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Regis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Regis creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mayer sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Regis is looking to take a break and control but Mayer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Regis in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Regis fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Regis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mayer keeps working.
Mayer avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Regis.
Mayer is not content to let Regis control the position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Mayer is trying to get back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Mayer blocks a low kick nicely.
A head kick misses from Regis.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Regis gets a takedown into half guard.
Regis wants to pass the guard but Mayer is defending well.
Regis missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Regis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mayer keeps working.

Regis stands up out of the half guard.

Regis shoots in and gets a takedown into Mayer's guard.
Mayer wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thiago Regis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Regis gets the takedown into side control.
Regis in side control, throwing shots but Mayer defends.
Regis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mayer keeps working.

Regis has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Mayer throws a push kick but Regis slaps the foot to one side.

Mayer gets caught napping as Regis dives in and scores a takedown. Mayer manages to retain guard.
Regis trying to control the position from guard on top but Mayer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Regis might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mayer haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Regis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Mayer looking for a sweep. Not yet Mayer, not yet.
Mayer keeping full guard, as Regis tries to pass.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Mayer thows a leg kick but Regis checks it
and Regis counters with a two punch combo.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Regis.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mayer is trying to control Regis's posture but Regis avoids it.

Regis is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Mayer will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
You can see the frustration on Mayer's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mayer prevents Regis from moving into mount.

Regis is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mayer knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Mayer gets back to half guard.

Regis wants to pass the guard but Mayer is defending well.
Regis perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Mayer trying to control but Regis postures up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mayer gets caught napping as Regis dives in and scores a takedown. Mayer manages to retain guard.
Regis is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Thiago Regis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Regis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
