The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bennet throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around LaFontier's waist but LaFontier gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bennet off to one side.

Scotty Bennet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bennet pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bennet throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
LaFontier tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Bennet has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
A nice inside leg kick there by Bennet. That's going to slow LaFontier down.
LaFontier looks to land a combination but Bennet avoids it well.
A left lands for LaFontier.
LaFontier connects with a crisp jab.
Bennet uses good head movement to avoid the hook from LaFontier.
Bennet was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

LaFontier throws the left hand but Bennet avoids the punch easily.
It looked like Bennet was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from LaFontier.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
LaFontier throws a series of punches but Bennet avoids them all with ease.
Bennet was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
LaFontier fails in his attempt to clinch.
Bennet pivots, looking for a leg kick but LaFontier is out of range and Bennet settles back down.
LaFontier walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

and LaFontier counters with a crisp one two that drops Bennet! LaFontier thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Bennet to his feet! Bennet is in big trouble!
LaFontier changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Bennet throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bennet has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bennet there as he acknowledges the shot.

Bennet lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Bennet stuffs the takedown attempt from LaFontier. LaFontier gets slowly back to his feet.
Scotty Bennet has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charles LaFontier.
LaFontier takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
LaFontier throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Bennet counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

LaFontier takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

LaFontier takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
LaFontier has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Bennet throws a monster overhand right that drops LaFontier! Bennet follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Scotty Bennet tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
