Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hai Shang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Raven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thomas Raven!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and Columbo Gatti.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shang swings for the body but Raven moves out of range.
Raven appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Shang tries a head kick but it misses.
Shang tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Shang keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Raven.
Raven throws a half hearted mid kick.
Shang misses with a body shot.
Shang looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Raven fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Raven ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shang moves away.
Shang ducks under a wild hook from Raven.
Raven on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Shang. Shang obviously looking to wear him down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shang throws a sloppy head kick and Raven moves out of range easily.
Raven displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Shang throws out the jab.

and Raven counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Shang jabs Raven right on the nose. Raven blinks but takes it well.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Raven wants to counter with a clinch but Shang pushes him away.
Shang throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Shang attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Raven avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Raven takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Raven throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

and Raven counters with a nice body shot.
Shang misses with a head kick.
Raven rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Shang moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Raven takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Raven lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Shang ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Raven moves away.
Raven now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Shang throws a body shot but no joy.
Raven is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Shang throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Raven fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Shang jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Raven let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Shang looks to land a body kick but Raven moved away.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shang swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Shang moves out of range as Raven strikes.
Raven blocks a head kick by Shang.
Shang does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Raven flicks out a counter leg kick but Shang steps away.
Shang takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Shang scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
A clash of legs there as Raven blocks the low kick.

Raven catches Shang napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Shang to the canvas!

Oh Shang is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Raven throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Raven trying to control but Shang is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

A slow jab from Raven misses its intended target.
Shang seems to have got his legs back now.
Raven cracks Shang with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Raven pounces like a tiger and cracks Shang with a vicious hook! Shang is down but not out! Raven follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
