Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Junior Brandon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Squirrel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brandon comes to the cage accompanied by Life Is Beautiful. Squirrel has chosen Bio Crisis - Delirio as his entrance music. Junior Brandon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Junior Brandon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Squirrel!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Squirrel lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like Junior Brandon has been cut.
Brandon keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Brandon.
Squirrel swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Brandon counters with a takedown into side control.

Brandon is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Squirrel knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Squirrel is trying to control Brandon's posture but Brandon avoids it.

I've been told that Squirrel has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game.

We've been hearing good reports from Brandon's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Squirrel tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Brandon was well out of range. Poor timing from Squirrel.

Brandon tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Squirrel defends well and Brandon ends up having to push Squirrel into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

A close round but Steve Squirrel will probably get the nod.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Brandon looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Squirrel fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Brandon shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Squirrel napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Squirrel is not content to let Brandon control the position.
Squirrel is trying to control Brandon's posture but Brandon avoids it.
Brandon wants to stand but Squirrel has his arm trapped.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Brandon wants to control but Squirrel is keeping him busy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Squirrel misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Squirrel keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Squirrel stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Squirrel wants it to stay on the feet.

Brandon is looking to counter with head kicks.
Squirrel scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Brandon darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Squirrel throws a shot to the body.

Brandon tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Squirrel just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Junior Brandon. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Brandon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Squirrel throws a combination that misses

and Brandon counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Squirrel moves into full guard.
Squirrel working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Brandon.
Brandon trying to control but Squirrel is working from the bottom.
Brandon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Squirrel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Junior Brandon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Squirrel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Brandon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Brandon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Squirrel is trying to control Brandon's posture but Brandon avoids it.

Squirrel tries to buck Brandon off but Brandon is having none of it.

Brandon in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Brandon swings around for an armbar but Squirrel sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Brandon's guard.
Squirrel looking to sit in guard and control but Brandon gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Squirrel can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Brandon controls the pace.

Squirrel is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Brandon working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Squirrel's head.

Brandon drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Squirrel manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Brandon has Squirrel in his guard.

Squirrel wants to control from the top but Brandon keeps moving.
Brandon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Brandon is really struggling to control Squirrel but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Squirrel slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Brandon is not content to let Squirrel control the position.
Squirrel cracks Brandon with a big elbow.

Steve Squirrel comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Squirrel has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
