Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Monty Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kyo Nura!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nura dives in and scores a takedown into Sanchez's guard.
Nura trying to control the position from guard on top but Sanchez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sanchez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nura manages to get himself to full guard.

Nura wants to sweep here but Sanchez controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sanchez postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nura is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nura being controlled here, momentarily.
Nura looking for a sweep. Not yet Nura, not yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Nura is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sanchez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Nura scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Nura is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sanchez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nura tries for a kimura but Sanchez is defending well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Nura has hold of Sanchez's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Sanchez seems comfortable defending it but Nura has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Sanchez is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Sanchez is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Nura couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kyo Nura!
