Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nick Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vinnie Vincent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Vincent moves in looking to clinch but Shields pushes him off.
Shields lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vincent circles away quickly and effectively.
Shields thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Vincent if he has to take too many more of those.
Vincent ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Shields throws out a loose jab but Vincent uses good head movement to avoid it.

Shields throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Vincent postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Shields is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vincent, into his guard.

Vincent has his foot on Shields's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shields works his way back into a safe position though.

Shields sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Vincent's guard.
Shields is taking a breather. Vincent says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Vincent working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shields doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shields manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Shields is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Vincent's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
