PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rupert Bright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Blade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Rupert Bright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ricky Blade!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blade defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Bright.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bright enables Blade to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bright manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Blade is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Bright not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Bright kicks Blade off and gets to his feet.
Blade lands with a nice body punch.
Bright really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bright fails with the takedown

and Blade counters by moving into the clinch.

Blade manages to pull guard.
Bright wants to control from the top but Blade keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blade doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bright is looking to work some ground and pound but Blade has wrist control.
Blade seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Blade has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Bright has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Bright escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Blade decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Blade stops Bright from getting back to his feet.
Blade is taking a breather. Bright says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bright manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Blade keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Bright breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bright tries to close the distance and clinch but Blade swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Blade misses with a straight right.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bright shoots in for a takedown but Blade shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rupert Bright. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bright fails with a takedown attempt.
Bright is breathing heavily.
Blade keeps the fight on the outside.
Bright tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Blade swivels and escapes.
Bright takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Blade swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Bright.


It looks like Rupert Bright has been cut.
A punch lands to the side of Bright 's head but he takes it in his stride.


Bright is rocked!

Blade is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Bright is in big trouble! Blade is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Bright. Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Ricky Blade!
A relieved looking Ricky Blade thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
