These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mewes with a hook.

McTavish working hard to break the clinch.
Mewes misses with a hook to the ribs.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Mewes.
Mewes lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of McTavish backwards.
Mewes misses with a punch on the inside.
McTavish wants to get back to striking at distance but Mewes won't allow it.
Mewes lands a left hand.
A left hand lands to the body for Mewes.
A right hand to the body from Mewes.
McTavish blocking some punches.
Our sources have told us that Mewes has been working on his elbows in the gym.
McTavish tries to break free but Mewes pushes him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mewes throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Mewes is trying hard to land a takedown here. McTavish sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
McTavish swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Donald McTavish is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mewes throws an off balance right hand
and Mewes takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mewes looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Mewes fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. McTavish looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

McTavish keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mewes.
Mewes tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and McTavish counters with a two punch combo.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mewes looks to clinch
and McTavish counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Mewes is rocked!
Mewes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McTavish but McTavish pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Oh Mewes is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mewes swings widly with a right hand
and McTavish counters with a left to the body.
Mewes looks to clinch
and McTavish scores with a counter punch that sends Mewes to the canvas! McTavish smells blood - he's punishing Mewes with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Mewes has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
