Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kahwaah Jeeri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jere Stephens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kahwaah Jeeri!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jere Stephens!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stephens walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Stephens tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jeeri swivels and escapes.
Stephens throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jeeri tries to clinch there but Stephens circles away.
Stephens appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Jeeri has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Stephens throws a nice looking combination but Jeeri bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Jeeri fails with an attempt to clinch.
Stephens stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Nice takedown defense from Stephens. No joy for Jeeri on that attempt.

Jeeri throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Stephens tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jeeri is in Stephens's guard.
Stephens throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Jeeri engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Jeeri trying to control the position from guard on top but Stephens is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jeeri has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Jeeri is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Stephens manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jeeri manages to get himself to full guard.


Jeeri manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Stephens is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jeeri sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Jeeri fails in his attempt to clinch.
Stephens changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Stephens misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kahwaah Jeeri has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jere Stephens.
Stephens fails to land with a series of punches.
Stephens misses with a wild combination.
Stephens shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Jeeri eats them both and turns towards Stephens to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stephens shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jeeri as he jumps to the side.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jeeri enables Stephens to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jeeri manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Jeeri might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jeeri is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Stephens scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Jeeri wants to stand and escape but Stephens is having none of it.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Stephens scores with a three punch combo!
Stephens scores with a crisp jab that stopped Jeeri in his tracks.
Stephens swinging wildly here.
Stephens throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Stephens fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Stephens shoots in looking for a takedown. Jeeri tries to sprawl out of it but Stephens keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jeeri manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Some wild striking there from Jeeri.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stephens misses with a few strikes there.

Jeeri shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Stephens napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jeeri remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Jeeri has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Jeeri can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Stephens is looking to escape.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Stephens's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Stephens slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Stephens manages to escape and get back to his feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jere Stephens dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Jeeri connects with a jab.
Jeeri throws an off balance right hand
and Stephens counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Stephens goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Jeeri is rocked!
Stephens has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
