Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leon DeLaurier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dennis Pegeant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leon DeLaurier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dennis Pegeant!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Sano and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeLaurier fails with a takedown attempt.

Pegeant closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. DeLaurier quickly recovers to half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
DeLaurier might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

DeLaurier's coaches at KY GYM have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

DeLaurier regains half guard, as Pegeant was trying to land strikes.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pegeant connects with a nice short shot to DeLaurier's temple.
Pegeant wants to control but DeLaurier is keeping him busy.
DeLaurier is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Pegeant is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Pegeant thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
DeLaurier is not content to let Pegeant control the position.
DeLaurier tries to get to full guard but Pegeant has control of the leg.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Pegeant shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
DeLaurier misses with a body shot.
Pegeant drops down looking to force a counter takedown but DeLaurier defends it well.
Pegeant avoids a punch combination nicely.
DeLaurier throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pegeant.
A looping hook to the body misses from DeLaurier. Pegeant does a little dance to reset his feet.

DeLaurier takes a shot to the body in his stride.
A telegraphed right hand from DeLaurier misses the target.
Pegeant shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as DeLaurier sprawls well. DeLaurier wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pegeant gets slowly back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A head kick misses from DeLaurier.
And Pegeant tries to counter it with a takedown but DeLaurier pushes his down on his head and steps out.

DeLaurier closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Pegeant manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
DeLaurier tries to get to full guard but Pegeant has control of the leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Pegeant ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Pegeant no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pegeant is on top in guard.

DeLaurier has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Pegeant has passed into side control.

The referee asks Pegeant politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Pegeant prefers to stall for the moment though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Pegeant frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Pegeant has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Brown House. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
DeLaurier reaches up to try and control the position but Pegeant seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! DeLaurier rolls and tries to escape and now Pegeant has his back!

Pegeant has the hooks in. DeLaurier is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Pegeant doesn't have the hooks in and DeLaurier manages to turn into his guard.
DeLaurier tries to free his leg and advance position but Pegeant is retaining full guard.

Pegeant has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but DeLaurier can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Pegeant might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control DeLaurier haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

DeLaurier wants to clinch up but Pegeant keeps it at a distance.

DeLaurier throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Pegeant stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

DeLaurier shoots in but Pegeant avoids the takedown attempt easily.

DeLaurier throws a right and a left that Pegeant avoids nicely.

Pegeant fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging DeLaurier to the ground. Pegeant is now in DeLaurier's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!

I've got Pegeant winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
