PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Stark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stark has chosen Master of puppets as his entrance music. Kurt Turner is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurt Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gabriel Stark!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Lou da Vinci and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stark is looking to clinch.
Good exchange - Stark coming out on top.
Stark closes the distance but Turner moves to the side

and Turner counters with a takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Stark tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Turner wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Stark wants to get back to his feet but Turner drags him back down.

Turner wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stark, who protects the arm well.
Stark takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Stark is trying to buck Turner off.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Turner tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Stark is looking to reverse the position.
Turner wants to control but Stark is keeping him busy.

Turner looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Stark is trying to control Turner's posture but Turner avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Stark sneaks back into half guard.
Stark wants to get back to his feet.

Turner is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Turner in particular looking to stall.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Stark rushes Turner and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Stark looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Turner manages to break the clinch.
Nice sprawl there from Turner as Stark shoots in.
Gabriel Stark seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Turner shoots in for a takedown but Stark shows good takedown defense.
Stark misses with a few strikes there.
Stark throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Stark lands with a hook. Turner tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Turner takes one to the side of the head.
Stark is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Turner tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Stark defends well and Turner ends up having to push Stark into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Stark dives in for a single leg takedown but Turner sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stark tries to grapple but his opponent circles

so Turner counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Turner sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Stark is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Turner distracts Stark with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Stark is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Turner dives into side control.
Turner is staying tight to Stark's torso, preventing him from escaping.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kurt Turner dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Turner closes this distance looking for a takedown but Stark circles away.
Turner looks for a takedown but Stark sprawls well.
Turner showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Stark.
Stark throws a series of punches but Turner avoids them all with ease.
Turner swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Turner could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Turner avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Stark lands a slapping body shot.
Stark throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Turner is defended easily by Stark.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurt Turner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice takedown defense from Turner. No joy for Stark on that attempt.
Stark scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Stark is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Stark scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Turner has his takedown stuffed
and Turner takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Stark is looking to clinch.
Stark uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.


It looks like Kurt Turner has been cut.
Stark shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Turner closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Stark to the mat! Stark manages to get full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Turner wants to control from the top but Stark keeps moving.
Stark seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Kurt Turner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Stark's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Stark is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Stark is trying to break the clinch but Turner has him pressed against the cage.
Turner is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Turner wants to stall.
Turner seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Stark is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.
Stark content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Turner is trying to break the clinch but Stark is controlling him.
Turner trying to stall but Stark improves his position.
Stark tries to break free but Turner pushes him back against the cage.

Turner breaks the clinch.
Turner fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Gabriel Stark seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Stark connects with a body shot.
Kurt Turner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Turner shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Turner takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Stark connects with a looping right hand.
Stark tries to clinch up but Turner circles away and keeps his distance.

Stark fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Turner, pushing him back against the cage.
Turner has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Stark looking to slow down the pace here.

Turner breaks the clinch.
Stark tries to clinch up.

Stark tries to clinch up but Turner circles away and keeps his distance.
Stark wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Stark will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Turner is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Stark.

Stark fails to pull guard.
Stark tries to circle away but Turner has him pinned against the cage.
Stark scores with a shoulder strike.
Stark working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Stark lands a nice shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gabriel Stark showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Kurt Turner's cut.

Stark ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Turner slips a jab and a cross from Stark.
Turner stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Turner wants it to stay on the feet.
Turner is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Stark.
Stark tries to close the distance and clinch up but Turner swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Stark wants to clinch but Turner slips to the side
and Turner counters with a series of strikes. Stark will be more careful next time no doubt.
Stark dodges the punch combination from Turner.
Stark works over Turner's head and body with a nice combination.
Stark tries to clinch but Turner is having none of it.
Turner throws a big counter combination but Stark scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Stark lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Turner goes down and covers up as Stark starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gabriel Stark!
During a confident post fight interview, Gabriel Stark thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
