The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jonathan Paton and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Costanzo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Costanzo keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Schell's head.
Costanzo controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Costanzo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Costanzo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Schell shoots in for a double leg but Costanzo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Costanzo darts in looking for a takedown but Schell gets double underhooks and turns Costanzo into the cage.
Costanzo takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nice takedown defense from Schell. No joy for Costanzo on that attempt.
Schell appears to be looking for a big counter.
Costanzo clinches up with Schell and pushes him back against the cage.

It looks like Costanzo might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Costanzo is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Costanzo throws a leg kick that is checked
and Schell counters with a single leg into guard. Costanzo didn't expect that.
Schell postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Costanzo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Schell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Schell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Schell gets tackled into the cage by Costanzo. Costanzo maintains the clinch.
Schell has had enough of the clinch but Costanzo keeps him there for the moment.
Schell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Costanzo tries to bum rush Schell with a series of wild strikes but Schell uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Schell moves in looking to clinch but Costanzo pushes him off.
A little jabbing left from Costanzo on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Costanzo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Schell manages to get himself to full guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Costanzo working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Costanzo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Costanzo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Schell doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Costanzo.

Schell on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Schell tries to get out of the position.

Costanzo uses his free foot to push down on Schell's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Schell.

Costanzo loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Schell scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Costanzo land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Costanzo stands and salutes the crowd.
