Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sammie Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonny Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jonny Jones!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones has Day up against the cage in a clinch.
Day wants to break free but Jones has control.

Jones jumps guard.
Jones wants to stand and escape but Day is having none of it.
Jones wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Day is now in half guard.
Jones throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Jones looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Day. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Day avoids it really well and circles away.

Day throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jones was covering up waiting for the punch and Day finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Jones trying to keep a closed guard but Day is proving a slippery customer.

Jones looks to land a combination but Day avoids it well.

It appears Day was looking to counter with a kick there.

Day tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jones smiles and moves away.
Day throws out a leg kick but Jones moves out of range and Day only half commits.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Day fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Sammie Day is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Day sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.
Jones connects with a leg kick. Day looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Jones has Day pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Jones pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Day tumbling to the mat - Jones dives into Day's guard.

Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Day swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Day might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Day lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Day throwing strikes but missing.
Jones is controlling Day's posture.

Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Day can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Day has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jones is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jones cracks the inside of Day's front leg.
Jones tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Day defends well and Jones ends up having to push Day into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Jones moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Day but Day pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Sammie Day has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonny Jones.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Day sprawls well. Day wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Day jumps guard and drags Jones to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonny Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Day wants to hit a switch here but Jones passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Day there!
Day tries to lock up and control but Jones gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Day is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Day tries to reverse the position but Jones maintains control.
Sammie Day overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Day is working hard here to advance position.
Day tries to hold on but Jones pushes him away.
Day keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Day defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Jones.
Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Day is trying desperately to improve position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Day is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.
Day manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Day is pressing down on Jones's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Day not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jones wants to control from the top but Day keeps moving.
Day doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Day working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jones doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jones manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Day is striking off his back. Jones thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Day keeps working.
Jones prevents Day from improving his position.
Jones trying to control the action but Day is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Day will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jones moves into range and clinches up with Day.
Day tries to pull guard but Jones won't allow it.

Jones breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Some wild striking there from Day.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jonny Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
