PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pope Fish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hank Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Hank Williams was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pope Fish!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hank Williams!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fish dodges the punch combination from Williams.
A little feinted left hand from Fish on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Fish takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Williams slips under a jab from Fish.
Pope Fish seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fish throws a low kick but Williams moves out of range easily.
Williams misses with a wild body shot.
A counter left hand to the body from Fish misses its target.
Williams blocks a leg kick.
Williams throws out a counter right but Fish avoids it with no problem.
Williams throws a series of punches but Fish moves out of range.
Fish fires out a quick counter leg kick but Williams just manages to avoid it.
Williams has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Fish is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Williams throws an overhand right that lands on Fish's shoulder, as Fish tries to avoid the shot.
Williams feints and then cracks Fish's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Fish down.

Williams changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fish looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Williams is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fish is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Fish is staying active underneath Williams, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Williams is stalling here. Fish is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Williams seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Fish has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Williams has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fish is working away from the top position though.

Williams tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fish sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Williams somewhat.
Williams closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Williams connects with a body shot that sends Fish's belly button to the back.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Fish lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Williams has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Williams and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

That was a close round but I would say that Pope Fish will probably get the nod.

Williams looks to land a left hand but Fish moved out of range nicely.
Fish thuds his shin into the meat of Williams's side.
Williams misses with a jab, cross combination.
A quick step to the side and Fish tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Williams blocks a head kick by Fish.
Williams clobbers Fish with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Williams stalks Fish and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Fish's face. Fish staggers backwards, shaken.
Williams moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Fish is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fish, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
