Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mako Choliman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joshua Shouse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mako Choliman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 27 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joshua Shouse !
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shouse with a poor takedown

and Choliman counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Choliman with a flurry of punches that miss.
Choliman is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Choliman stopping the sweep attempt from Shouse .
Shouse really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Choliman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shouse is looking to stand up but Choliman isn't so interested in that idea.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shouse can do anything to dispel that myth.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Choliman in particular looking to stall.
Shouse is looking to control Choliman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Shouse avoid being mounted?

Shouse wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Choliman working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Shouse shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Choliman sprawls well. Choliman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Shouse gets slowly back to his feet.
Choliman drops down looking for a counter takedown but Shouse sprawls and moves away.
Shouse shoots in but no luck this time.
Shouse pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Joshua Shouse is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Choliman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Mako Choliman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joshua Shouse .
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Choliman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Shouse has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Choliman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Shouse is trying to force a seperation but Choliman has the dominant position.
Shouse lands with a light punch inside.

Choliman gets control of Shouse 's arms and successfully pulls guard. Choliman will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Choliman changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Choliman is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Shouse is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Well Choliman has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
