Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Normand Compton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erick Olivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Normand Compton has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Normand Compton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Erick Olivera!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Alexandre Firmino and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olivera misses with a head kick.

Compton tries to sprawl but Olivera drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Compton is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Olivera pulls his head out easily.
Compton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Olivera tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Compton.
Olivera working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Olivera tries to pass to full mount but Compton defends it.
Olivera is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Olivera works his way into side control.

Olivera is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Olivera is looking to take a break and control but Compton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Compton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Olivera on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Olivera tries to stand but Compton is controlling his head.
Olivera throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Compton is pushing Olivera's head away, looking to escape. Olivera manages to hold on to the position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Compton on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Olivera working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Olivera is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Compton wants to control but Olivera postures up.

Compton seems a little lost for a moment, as Olivera dominates the positioning.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Compton is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Olivera is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Compton's half guard.

Olivera is keen to just control but Compton is a slippery customer.
Olivera tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Compton.
Compton tries to roll over but Olivera keeps him under control.
Compton wants to control but Olivera is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Olivera is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Olivera is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Compton has managed to free his arm - good work.

Erick Olivera dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Olivera drives through and clinches with Compton against the cage.
Olivera tries to pull guard but Compton forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Compton wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Compton breaks the clinch.
Olivera misses with a straight right.
Compton attempts a counter takedown but Olivera avoids it well and moves away.
Olivera throws a nice looking combination but Compton bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Olivera tries to close the distance and clinch up but Compton swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Compton throws a quick counter head kick but Olivera was just out of range.

Olivera closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Olivera looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Olivera drops an elbow to the side of Compton's head.

Olivera controlling the pace.

Compton looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Compton trying to control but Olivera postures up.
It looks like Olivera is going to stand back up.
Olivera has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Olivera is taking a breather. Compton says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Erick Olivera has got the better of the ground game so far.

Olivera thows a huge punch but Compton dodges it nicely.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Olivera decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Compton is trying to maintain the position but Olivera is very close to passing his half guard.
Olivera not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Olivera is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Olivera passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Compton!
Olivera pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Olivera controlling the pace for now.
Olivera's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Compton is desperately trying to improve his position but Olivera has a good base and remains in mount.

Olivera can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Compton is looking to escape.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Olivera cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Olivera is looking to stand but Olivera has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Compton is in a horrible position here. Olivera smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Compton tries to control Olivera's body but Olivera pushes him off. Compton squirms to his side and now Olivera has his back!
Olivera has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Compton's body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Erick Olivera showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Olivera feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Comptons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Olivera instigates a clinch.
Compton tries to land knees in the clinch but Olivera avoids the damage to the body.
Olivera has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Compton after a bit of a struggle.
Compton is trying to break the clinch but Olivera is controlling him.
Olivera changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Compton fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Compton gets caught flat footed, as Olivera shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.


Compton is rocked!
Olivera stays in close to Compton's body and controls the position.
Olivera has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Olivera wants to control from the top but Compton keeps moving.

Compton wants to get back to his feet but Olivera passes into half guard.
Compton is looking to escape.
Olivera slows the pace down in half guard.
Olivera tries to pass the half guard into mount. Compton knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Olivera is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Compton!
Compton wants to hold on but Olivera pushes him away.
Compton's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Olivera lands a big shot there that rocks Compton but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Olivera lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Oh Compton is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Olivera lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Compton is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Olivera locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Compton is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Erick Olivera!
