Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Willum Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pavel Stolyar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stolyar is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by I Will Break You. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Willum Reed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pavel Stolyar!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stolyar shoots and misses

and Reed counters by moving into the clinch.

Reed drags the fight down to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reed is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Stolyar presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Reed has his hands on Stolyar's head, controlling the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Reed is trying to control Stolyar's posture but Stolyar avoids it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reed tries to bench press Stolyar off him but Stolyar keeps the position.
Reed wants to get back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Stolyar.

Reed darts in looking for a takedown but Stolyar gets double underhooks and turns Reed into the cage.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Reed takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Reed wants to sweep here but Stolyar controlling him for the moment.

Reed avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Reed is controlling Stolyar's posture.
Reed controls Stolyar momentarily but Stolyar frees himself.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Reed moves into the clinch successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reed decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Reed tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Stolyar is not content to let Reed control the position.

Reed looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Stolyar has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Reed is working away from the top position though.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Reed lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Stolyar gets back to full guard.

Reed stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Willum Reed is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stolyar goes for a double leg but Reed avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Reed continues to drive forward.
Stolyar is breathing heavily.
Reed tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Stolyar defends well and Reed ends up having to push Stolyar into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Reed will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Stolyar shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Reed sprawls well. Reed wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Stolyar gets slowly back to his feet.
Reed tries to score a power double leg takedown but Stolyar sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Reed somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Willum Reed. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Stolyar using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Reed has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Reed's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Stolyar closes this distance looking for a takedown but Reed circles away.
Willum Reed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stolyar keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Stolyar drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Reed defends it well.

Reed breaks from the clinch.
Reed is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Stolyar can do to turn this around?
Stolyar shoots for a double leg takedown but Reed sprawls well. He's pushed Stolyar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Stolyar takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Reed misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Stolyar shapes to counter with a head kick.
Reed leaves Stolyar with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

No luck for Reed with that takedown attempt.
Reed shoots for a double leg takedown but Stolyar sprawls well. He's pushed Reed's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Reed changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stolyar tries to avoid it but Reed manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stolyar to the ground. Stolyar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Stolyar is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Reed connects with a leg kick. Stolyar looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Reed looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Stolyar!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Reed misses with the ground and pound.
Stolyar felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Reed tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Reed has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stolyar shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Reed as he jumps to the side.
Stolyar has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Reed.

Stolyar gets tackled into the cage by Reed. Reed maintains the clinch.
Stolyar is working for takedown but Reed is calmly controlling the position for now.
Reed unloads a knee to the mid-section. Stolyar lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Reed manages to pull guard.

Stolyar would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Reed has his hands on Stolyar's head, controlling the position.
Reed is trying to keep Stolyar in close.
Stolyar takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Reed had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Stolyar defends it easily.
Stolyar wants to control from the top but Reed keeps moving.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Reed escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stolyar gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Reed instigates a clinch.
Reed jumps guard but Stolyar stands there with Reed around his waist. Reed gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Reed has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Stolyar avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Stolyar shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Reed defends it nicely.
Willum Reed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pavel Stolyar.
