Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matt Quin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddy Hwang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quin's entrance music is Captain Jack - Iko Iko. A fine choice. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Quin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eddy Hwang!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quin misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Quin takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Quin attempts a counter takedown but Hwang avoids it well and moves away.
Quin moves out of range of the body kick.
Quin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Quin misses with the combination.
Hwang fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Quin checks it well.

Quin drives through with a takedown into guard.
Quin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hwang wants to stand but Quin is controlling the position.
Quin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Quin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hwang is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hwang is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Hwang wants to stand and escape but Quin is having none of it.
Quin stands up over Hwang, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Hwang misses with a body kick.
Quin has been working on his balance at Ground Zero, Las Vegas (LOD), so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Hwang.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Hwang, right into the meat.
Quin darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Quin misses with a straight right.
Hwang throws a push kick but Quin slaps the foot to one side.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hwang enables Quin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hwang manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Hwang can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Quin controls the pace.
Quin passes Hwang's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Hwang is staying active underneath Quin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Quin lands a nice short elbow.
Hwang looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hwang is looking to escape.

Quin seems to be working for a kimura but Hwang defends the submission attempt.

Quin is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hwang sees it coming and defends easily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Quin wants to pass to mount but Hwang is defending the position.
Hwang tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Quin manages to move to mount!
Quin lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Quin has control of Hwang's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hwang regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Hwang seems to have recovered his senses.

Hwang really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Quin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hwang is squirming around, avoiding Quin's attempts to control the action.
Quin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hwang's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Quin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hwang can do to turn this around?

Quin throws a right hand that Hwang ducks under and follows up with a left that Hwang also avoids with ease.
Quin throws a hook but Hwang blocks it.

Quin forces Hwang back against the cage and clinches.
Quin lands a right hand.
Quin lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Hwang to his knees! Quin keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:19 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matt Quin!
