Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nick Folignus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lorenzo Sulphur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Folignus comes into the arena with Laces Out blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Folignus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lorenzo Sulphur!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Eddie Farnsworth and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Folignus is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sulphur's half guard.
Folignus passes to side control.
Folignus misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Folignus working the ground and pound but Sulphur is defending the strikes.
Sulphur is trying to control Folignus's posture but Folignus avoids it.
Folignus looks up at the clock and then as Sulphur takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Folignus smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Folignus wants to control but Sulphur is keeping him busy.

Folignus is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sulphur knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Folignus swings around for an armbar but Sulphur sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Folignus's guard.

Folignus has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sulphur can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Folignus has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Folignus had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sulphur defends it easily.

Folignus escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sulphur gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sulphur avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sulphur got a little sloppy there for a moment and Folignus has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sulphur has managed to get both his arms back between Folignus's legs - danger averted.
Folignus bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sulphur's guard.

Folignus stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sulphur swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Folignus trying to control the position from guard on top but Sulphur is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Folignus is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sulphur is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Sulphur utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Sulphur is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Folignus controls from within his opponent's guard.
Folignus passes Sulphur's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Sulphur is defending against the submission attempts here by Folignus.
Folignus performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Sulphur scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Folignus regains full guard. Nicely done.
Folignus managing to control the position.
Folignus lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Folignus is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sulphur is just riding it out for now. Folignus eventually gives up the hold.
Sulphur is trying to get back to full guard.
Folignus is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sulphur can do to turn this around?

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Folignus is working for a kimura but Sulphur is defending it quite comfortably.
Folignus looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Folignus is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Sulphur blocking the ground and pound attempt from Folignus.
Folignus trying to control from half guard but Sulphur is working away.

Folignus is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sulphur defends it well.
Folignus working over Sulphur with some ground and pound. Sulphur looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Folignus is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sulphur sees it coming and defends easily.
Sulphur is looking for a sweep. Folignus is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sulphur checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Sulphur shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sulphur was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Folignus is trying to improve his position.
Folignus sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Folignus gets full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Nick Folignus will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Sulphur fails to land with a series of punches.
Folignus tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sulphur was well out of range. Poor timing from Folignus.
Folignus feints and then cracks Sulphur's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Sulphur down.
Sulphur checks a leg kick nicely.

Folignus tries to sprawl but Sulphur drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Folignus is looking for a sweep. Sulphur is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Folignus is pressing down on Sulphur's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Folignus is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Folignus has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sulphur can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Sulphur keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Folignus's head.

Folignus is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Sulphur rolls with it to try and escape but Folignus cranks on the arm and Sulphur is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
