PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Randolph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruiser Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tyler Randolph!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bruiser Barnes!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Randolph shoots for a double leg takedown but Barnes sprawls well. He's pushed Randolph's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

so Barnes counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyler Randolph. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Barnes sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Randolph wants to improve his position but instead Barnes has moved into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barnes winds up and cracks Randolph with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Randolph might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Still in half guard, Barnes seems content to control.
Randolph is trying to stand.

Barnes wants to free his trapped foot but Randolph is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Barnes is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Randolph is trying to stand back up but Barnes is controlling him
Randolph tries to get to full guard but Barnes has control of the leg.

Randolph manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Barnes keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Randolph wants to control from the top but Barnes keeps moving.
Randolph is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Barnes is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Barnes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Randolph manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Barnes keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Randolph could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Barnes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Barnes closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Randolph's guard.
Randolph wants to sweep here but Barnes controlling him for the moment.
Barnes slips nicely into half guard.
Randolph is breathing heavily.
Randolph looks like he's trying to stand up.

Barnes is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Randolph sees it coming and defends easily.
Randolph tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Randolph moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Barnes advances position into side control!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here as Barnes stalls from top position.
Randolph tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Barnes wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Randolph is trying to buck Barnes off.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Randolph is not content to let Barnes control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruiser Barnes dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Randolph tries for a takedown but Barnes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Barnes shoots in and drives through. Randolph sprawls well.
Barnes shoots and misses
and Randolph connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Tyler Randolph has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruiser Barnes.
Randolph goes for a double leg but Barnes avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Barnes continues to drive forward.
Barnes wants to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Randolph shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Randolph gets caught napping as Barnes dives in and scores a takedown. Randolph manages to retain guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Barnes stops Randolph from standing up.
Barnes sitting in guard here, content to control.
Barnes prevents Randolph from getting back to his feet.
Barnes wants to pass the guard but Randolph is keeping the position.
Barnes sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Barnes with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Barnes scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Barnes engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Randolph shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Barnes trying to keep a closed guard but Randolph is proving a slippery customer.
Barnes is pulling down on Randolph's head. It's preventing any offense from Randolph, at least for the moment.

Barnes looking for a guillotine here but Randolph defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Randolph has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Barnes is proving hard to escape from.
Barnes wants to stand and escape but Randolph is having none of it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Randolph stopping the sweep attempt from Barnes.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Barnes has Randolph up against the cage in a clinch.
A left hand lands to the body for Barnes.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Randolph goes for a takedown attempt but Barnes pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Barnes scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruiser Barnes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Barnes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Randolph swivels and escapes.

Randolph gets caught flat footed, as Barnes shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Barnes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Randolph manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Barnes manages to get himself to full guard.

Barnes wants to control the position but Randolph says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Barnes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Randolph looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barnes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Randolph is working away from the top position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Barnes is concentrating on defense, preventing Randolph from advancing position.
Barnes flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Barnes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Barnes controlling the position well.
Barnes is looking to get back to full guard here but Randolph has managed to pass to side control instead.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Randolph wants to stand but Barnes has his arm trapped.
Barnes holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Barnes is trying to improve his position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Barnes has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Randolph shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Barnes pinned against the cage. Barnes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Barnes tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Randolph defends well and Barnes ends up having to push Randolph into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Barnes throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Randolph shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Barnes's guard.

Randolph got a little sloppy there for a moment and Barnes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Randolph has managed to get both his arms back between Barnes's legs - danger averted.

Barnes has an active guard here but Randolph has managed to pass into half guard.

Barnes trying to hold on to Randolph's head to control him but Randolph postures up.
Randolph throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Bruiser Barnes has got the better of the ground game so far.
Barnes is looking to get back to full guard here but Randolph has managed to pass to side control instead.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Barnes tries to bench press Randolph off him but Randolph keeps the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tyler Randolph showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Barnes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
