Landeverde has chosen Napalm & Erruption- In San Francisco as his entrance music. Ric Landeverde acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gaudencio Roman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ric Landeverde!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Landeverde dives in and scores a takedown into Roman's guard.
Roman wants to sweep but no luck.
Roman striking off his back but it's not causing Landeverde any problems.
Landeverde scoring with some ground and pound.

Landeverde drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Roman dives on top into guard.

Landeverde is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Roman looking to sit in guard and control but Landeverde gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Landeverde trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roman is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Roman utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Roman has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Landeverde sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Roman's guard.
Roman on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Roman tries to get out of the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Landeverde lands a nice short elbow.
Landeverde looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Roman looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Roman is looking to improve his position.
Landeverde missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Landeverde is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Roman!

Roman is desperately trying to improve his position but Landeverde has a good base and remains in mount.
Landeverde lands a nice shot to the head.
Roman tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Landeverde moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Roman has worked his arm free - good work by Roman!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roman is looking for a sweep.

Landeverde is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Roman has escaped the position, nice work there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Roman wants to control but Landeverde postures up.

Landeverde is trying to get an arm triangle but Roman is defending well.
Landeverde landing a few strikes.
Landeverde looks up at the clock and then as Roman takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Landeverde smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Landeverde working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.


Roman is rocked!

Oh Roman is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Landeverde cracks Roman with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Landeverde immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Roman is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Landeverde!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ric Landeverde!
A determined Ric Landeverde didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
