Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Neymar Junior!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Subotai Hyrkanian!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hyrkanian tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Junior defends well and Hyrkanian ends up having to push Junior into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Junior lands a leg kick that knocks Hyrkanian off balance momentarily.
Hyrkanian tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Junior uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hyrkanian.
Junior loads up on a big right hand but Hyrkanian slips the punch.
That kick from Junior tenderised Hyrkanian's leg. Hyrkanian is trying to keep his angry face on.
Hyrkanian closes the distance but Junior moves to the side
and Junior counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hyrkanian takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
We've been told by Junior's head coaches at Furia Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Hyrkanian's jab looks to have found its range, popping Junior under the eye.
Junior swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Hyrkanian steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Junior.
Hyrkanian tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Junior quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Hyrkanian closes the distance but Junior moves to the side
and Junior counters with a left to the body.
Junior throws a head kick that misses.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Hyrkanian has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Hyrkanian takes one to the side of the head.
Junior jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Hyrkanian takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Junior lands with a right hand.
Hyrkanian misses with a hook. Junior ducked under it nicely.
Hyrkanian swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hyrkanian misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hyrkanian throws a right and a left that Junior avoids nicely.
Hyrkanian throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Junior lands a big head kick that sends Hyrkanian to the canvas! Junior follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Neymar Junior!
