Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Goran Schwarzeneg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gegard Mousasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Goran Schwarzeneg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gegard Mousasi!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Igor Prikhodko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schwarzeneg is looking to land body kicks.
Nice sprawl there from Schwarzeneg as Mousasi shoots in.
Schwarzeneg avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mousasi should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Mousasi circles away from the clinch attempt

and Mousasi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Schwarzeneg won't be happy with that.
Schwarzeneg is not content to let Mousasi control the position.

Mousasi stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Schwarzeneg throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mousasi is looking to clinch but Schwarzeneg is avoiding it.

and Schwarzeneg counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Schwarzeneg.

Schwarzeneg avoids a wild elbow strike from Mousasi.

Schwarzeneg manages to pull guard.
Mousasi postures up.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Mousasi looking to sit in guard and control but Schwarzeneg gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Schwarzeneg sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Schwarzeneg loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mousasi looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mousasi wants to stand and escape but Schwarzeneg is having none of it.

Mousasi trying to keep a closed guard but Schwarzeneg is proving a slippery customer.
Schwarzeneg throws a big right hand that misses.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Schwarzeneg misses with a wild body shot.
Schwarzeneg tries to clinch up but Mousasi circles away and keeps his distance.
Schwarzeneg lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Mousasi at a distance.
Mousasi looks gassed!
Mousasi throws a push kick but Schwarzeneg slaps the foot to one side.

Schwarzeneg has taken the fight to the clinch.
Schwarzeneg lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Mousasi prevents a takedown attempt there.
Mousasi is working for takedown but Schwarzeneg is calmly controlling the position for now.
Schwarzeneg fails to pull guard.

Schwarzeneg pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Schwarzeneg tries to clinch but Mousasi moves away
and Mousasi counters with a slapping leg kick.
Schwarzeneg shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mousasi as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Goran Schwarzeneg. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mousasi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Schwarzeneg trying to control but Mousasi is working from the bottom.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Mousasi throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Schwarzeneg would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Schwarzeneg stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mousasi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mousasi wants to sweep here but Schwarzeneg controlling him for the moment.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Schwarzeneg stops Mousasi from standing up.
Mousasi throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Mousasi controls Schwarzeneg momentarily but Schwarzeneg frees himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mousasi shoots and misses
and Schwarzeneg counters with a nice uppercut.
Schwarzeneg has his takedown stuffed

and Mousasi counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Mousasi gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Schwarzeneg regains guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mousasi controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Mousasi trying to control the position from guard on top but Schwarzeneg is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Schwarzeneg utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Goran Schwarzeneg will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mousasi just misses with a punch to the body.
Some bone on bone action there as Mousasi checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Mousasi keeps the fight on the outside.

Schwarzeneg gets a takedown into half guard.
Mousasi trying to control from the bottom.
Mousasi gets full guard.
Mousasi is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Schwarzeneg knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mousasi on the ground.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mousasi is pulling down on Schwarzeneg's head to control his posture.

Mousasi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Schwarzeneg wants to get up but he can't break Mousasi's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Mousasi wants to stand and escape but Schwarzeneg is having none of it.

Schwarzeneg tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Mousasi pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Schwarzeneg tries to clinch up.

Schwarzeneg tries to keep at a distance but Mousasi has taken the fight into the clinch.

Mousasi jumps guard and drags Schwarzeneg to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Mousasi lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Schwarzeneg!

Schwarzeneg wants to control but Mousasi is having none of it.
Schwarzeneg on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Schwarzeneg tries to get out of the position.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Gegard Mousasi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mousasi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mousasi tries to control but Schwarzeneg wriggling away.
Schwarzeneg is trying to stand up.
Mousasi lands a nice shot to the head.

Mousasi postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Schwarzeneg looks a forlorn figure.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Schwarzeneg is desperately trying to improve his position but Mousasi has a good base and remains in mount.

Mousasi throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Schwarzeneg has his hands clasped together but Mousasi breaks the hold and Schwarzeneg is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Mousasi!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Gegard Mousasi!
