PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kirk Boon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Romeo Hernanes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Boon might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to American Ninja 2 OST - Truckin'. Hernanes has chosen Awolnation - Sail as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kirk Boon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Romeo Hernanes!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boon shoots for a double leg takedown but Hernanes sprawls well. He's pushed Boon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kirk Boon. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Boon changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hernanes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Boon wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hernanes, who protects the arm well.
Hernanes tries to bench press Boon off him but Boon keeps the position.

Boon goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hernanes has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Boon but great work by Hernanes.
Boon is looking to regain half guard here but Hernanes keeps moving and retains side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hernanes wants to stand but Boon has his arm trapped.

Hernanes decides to stand back up. Hernanes steps back and let's Boon get back to his feet.

Boon dives in and scores a takedown into Hernanes's guard.

Boon postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hernanes is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Boon, into his guard.

Boon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hernanes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hernanes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hernanes wants to get up but he can't break Boon's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hernanes has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Boon to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Hernanes is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Boon pulls down on the head and he's put Hernanes to sleep! This one is all over!
