The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hatterway lands with a nice body kick.
Benoit lands with a right hand.
Good leg kick by Hatterway there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Hatterway moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Hatterway tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Benoit paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Benoit ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hatterway moves away.
No joy there for Hatterway, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Benoit circles away from the clinch attempt.

Hatterway clinches up with Benoit and pushes him back against the cage.
Hatterway is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Hatterway breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Benoit shoots for a takedown but Hatterway saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Hatterway connects with a high kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Benoit takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Benoit throws a right and a left that Hatterway avoids nicely.

Hatterway has closed the distance and engaged Benoit in a clinch.
Benoit tries for a takedown. No joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Benoit is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Benoit misses with a short punch on the inside.

Hatterway's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Benoit will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hatterway fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Benoit.
A slapping leg kick lands for Hatterway.
Hatterway stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Benoit misses with a takedown attempt - Hatterway sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bennet Benoit. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hatterway moves in looking to clinch but Benoit pushes him off.

Hatterway gets caught napping as Benoit dives in and scores a takedown. Hatterway manages to retain guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Benoit is fighting to break Hatterway's control of his arms but Hatterway is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Hatterway pushes a forearm under Benoit's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Benoit is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
