Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Buford Ford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jo Hagar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buford Ford has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Buford Ford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jo Hagar!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hagar throws a right and a left that both miss.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ford enables Hagar to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ford manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hagar controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Ford throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Ford trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Ford keeping moving, preventing Hagar from controlling successfully.
Ford really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hagar throws a strike but Ford rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Hagar avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Ford is looking to work some ground and pound but Hagar has wrist control.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hagar. Ford does a little dance to reset his feet.
Ford went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
A low kick from Hagar is predictable there
and Ford counters with a one-two to the body.
Ford stalks Hagar and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hagar's face. Hagar staggers backwards, shaken.
Hagar tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Hagar throws a body shot but no joy.
Buford Ford is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Hagar throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ford was covering up waiting for the punch and Hagar finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Hagar wants to pass the guard but Ford is keeping the position.

Ford thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Ford keeping moving, preventing Hagar from controlling successfully.
Ford will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Ford is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hagar shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Ford is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

A close round but Jo Hagar will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Hagar shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hagar is trying to work for a kimura but Ford is defending well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ford is refusing to be controlled, as Hagar sits in half guard.
Still in half guard, Hagar seems content to control.

Let's hope that Hagar has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Hagar throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hagar has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Hagar has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ford tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Hagar connects with a couple of short punches.
Hagar slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Hagar shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ford napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Hagar is breathing heavily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hagar tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hagar has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hagar wants to take a breather but Ford manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Hagar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jo Hagar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Ford throws a leg kick but Hagar sees it coming and moves out of range.
Jo Hagar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ford throws a sloppy head kick

and Hagar holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Ford fails to pull guard.

Hagar is pulling down on Ford's head. It's preventing any offense from Ford, at least for the moment.
Ford is looking to work some ground and pound but Hagar has wrist control.

Hagar is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
You can see the frustration on Ford's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hagar wants to stand but Ford has his arm trapped.
Ford is trying to control Hagar's posture but Hagar avoids it.

Ford takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Ford tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Hagar presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Ford tries to reverse the position but Hagar maintains control.
Ford tries to buck Hagar off but Hagar takes his back!
Hagar is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Ford tries to roll but Hagar sticks to his back.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hagar wants to control but Ford is keeping busy.

Hagar patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Ford is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Ford is trying to shake Hagar off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Hagar won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.

Jo Hagar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hagar winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
