Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Montana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Glenn Benton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Montana comes to the ring accompanied by Push It To The Limit. Benton has chosen Shed Seven - Bully Boy as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Glenn Benton!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montana moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Benton throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Benton misses with a body kick.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Montana.
Some wild striking there from Benton.
Montana uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Benton.
A telegraphed right hand from Benton misses the target.
Benton throws a shot from downtown. Montana moves away and avoids it.
Benton pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Montana takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Montana moves out of range of the strikes.
Montana avoids a kick to the body.
Benton scores with a jab to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Benton tries to work over Montana's front leg with a kick but Montana checks it.
Benton looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Benton takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Benton misses the shot to the body.
A punch lands to the side of Montana 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Montana lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Benton at a distance.
We've been told by Montana's head coaches at The Barracks - LOD that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Montana lands a left and a right that sends Benton crashing to the canvas! Montana dives into mount looking to finish!


Benton is rocked!


It looks like Glenn Benton has been cut.
Montana looking to control but Benton is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Montana is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Benton is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Benton is trying to stand.
Montana trying to control but Benton is having none of it.
Montana wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Montana trying to control but he's not successful this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Montana controlling the position easily from mount.

Benton bucks up and throws Montana to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Montana displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Benton throws out the jab.
Montana takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Benton fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Montana manages to avoid it.
Montana moves into range and connects with a jab.

Benton feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Montana sprawling to the canvas! Montana rolls over backwards and springs off the ropes and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Benton finish him?!


Montana is rocked!
Montana drops his hands momentarily. Benton doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Montana staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Montana doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Glenn Benton!

During a confident post fight interview, Glenn Benton thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
