PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Elves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Primer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Elves might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Korn - Coming Undone. Bob Primer has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Elves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bob Primer!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Primer misses its intended target.
Primer lands a jab to Elves's midsection.
Primer misses with a low kick.
Primer lands a nice shot that snaps Elves's head back.
Elves moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Primer throws a leg kick but Elves sees it coming and moves out of range.
Primer has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Elves is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Sloppy strikes from Primer. Those never looked like landing.
Primer tries a low kick but Elves avoids it.
Elves tries to counter with a takedown but Primer is quick to defend against it.
Some wild striking there from Primer.
Elves wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Elves drives through and clinches with Primer against the cage.

Elves has hold of one of Primer's legs. Primer is fighting the takedown attempt but Elves gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Primer looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Elves has picked Primer up and slammed him! Primer can't keep hold of the triangle and Elves manages to pass to side control!
Primer tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Elves is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Primer is surviving well by controlling Elves's body position as best he can.
Elves trying to control but Primer is having none of it.

Elves jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Primer is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Primer and Elves has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Elves working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Primer is looking to reverse the position.
Primer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Elves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Elves scores with a couple of short elbows.
Primer tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Elves cracks Primer with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Primer throws a strike from the bottom but Elves uses the opportunity to take his back.
Elves keeps control of the position as Primer tries to break free.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Elves is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Primer is tapping out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ryan Elves!
After the fight, Ryan Elves was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
