PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ka'Ra LeVass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sven Jergensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Ka\'Ra LeVass has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ka'Ra LeVass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sven Jergensen!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Dean Styles and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

LeVass takes the fight into the clinch.
Jergensen stalling the fight.
LeVass tries a body shot but Jergensen blocks it.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Jergensen has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Jergensen is trying to trip LeVass. He has hold of a leg but LeVass is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Jergensen persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
LeVass manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jergensen manages to get himself to full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jergensen can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jergensen has LeVass pulled in close to control his posture.
Jergensen looking to hit a scissor sweep but LeVass is one step ahead there.
Jergensen is trying to keep LeVass in close.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
LeVass throws a strike but Jergensen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Jergensen is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

LeVass will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
LeVass is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jergensen is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
LeVass manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jergensen manages to get himself to full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jergensen has momentary wrist control but LeVass slips an elbow through the middle.
LeVass trying to control the position from guard on top but Jergensen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
LeVass lands a couple of elbows.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
LeVass lands a couple of decent looking shots.
LeVass won't allow Jergensen to sweep him here.
LeVass trying to control the position from guard on top but Jergensen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jergensen wants to control but LeVass passes easily into half guard.
LeVass is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
LeVass thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jergensen's head.

LeVass seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jergensen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

LeVass looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jergensen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

LeVass is trying to control. Jergensen wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Jergensen wants to control but LeVass is keeping busy.
Jergensen has hold of LeVass's hands but LeVass slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
LeVass thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jergensen's head.
LeVass lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Jergensen has hold of LeVass's hands but LeVass slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ka'Ra LeVass dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


LeVass throws a good cross that connects.
Jergensen shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Jergensen drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Jergensen darts in looking for a takedown but LeVass gets double underhooks and turns Jergensen into the ropes.
Jergensen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jergensen wants it to stay on the feet.

Jergensen clinches up against the ropes.
LeVass has Jergensen pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Jergensen manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
LeVass drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jergensen pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ka'Ra LeVass. That's going to take a lot out of him.

LeVass clinches up with Jergensen and pushes him back against the ropes.
LeVass goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jergensen prevents it.

Jergensen is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.
LeVass gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jergensen.

LeVass drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jergensen gets the underhooks and prevents it.
LeVass tries a body shot but Jergensen blocks it.

LeVass pulls guard successfully.
Jergensen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with LeVass. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

LeVass is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jergensen wants to control from the top but LeVass keeps moving.
LeVass looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jergensen is one step ahead there.
LeVass striking off his back but it's not causing Jergensen any problems.
LeVass looking for a sweep. Not yet LeVass, not yet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Jergensen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but LeVass paws at him with a jab and circles away.
LeVass throws a hook but Jergensen blocks it.
LeVass is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jergensen can do to turn this around?
The fight stays on the outside here - Jergensen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A shot to the liver by LeVass. Beautiful body shot.
LeVass dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Jergensen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in LeVass's guard.
LeVass bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jergensen's guard.

Jergensen pulls LeVass in close to his closed guard and prevents LeVass from doing any damage or advancing position.
LeVass has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
LeVass keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jergensen's head.
LeVass lands a couple of decent looking shots.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as LeVass accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



LeVass shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jergensen napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Jergensen is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Jergensen manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Ka'Ra LeVass is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Ka'Ra LeVass overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
LeVass misses the jab.
Jergensen with the counter takedown but LeVass avoids it easily.

Both guys are working to get underhooks.

LeVass has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jergensen uses from the top position.
LeVass can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jergensen controls the pace.

Ka'Ra LeVass showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for LeVass, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
