Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darryl Higgins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pascual Perez!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Russell Pearce and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Higgins has taken the fight to the clinch.

Higgins gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Perez wants to get back to his feet.
Higgins wants to pass to mount but Perez is defending the position.
Well, if Higgins is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Perez is trying to get back to full guard.
Higgins is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Perez is looking for a kimura but Higgins is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Perez to get the leverage.

Perez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Higgins is just riding it out for now. Perez eventually gives up the hold.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Perez wants to stand but Higgins has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Higgins is trying to maintain the position but Perez is very close to passing his half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Perez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Higgins has managed to free his arm - good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pascual Perez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Perez looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Higgins is positioning himself well to prevent Perez advancing to mount.

Perez seems to be looking for submissions.

Perez thows a huge punch but Higgins dodges it nicely.

Higgins rushes Perez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Higgins is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Perez to keep the fight standing.

Higgins is fighting off a takedown attempt but Perez is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Higgins to the mat. Higgins regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We've been informed that Perez has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Higgins is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Perez wants to control from the top but Higgins keeps moving.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Perez wants to take a breather but Higgins is having none of it.
Higgins is trying to maintain the position but Perez is very close to passing his half guard.
Perez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Higgins keeps working.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Higgins shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Perez sprawls well. Perez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Higgins gets slowly back to his feet.
Perez shapes to counter with a head kick.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Higgins shoots for a double leg takedown but Perez sprawls well. He's pushed Higgins's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darryl Higgins. That's going to take a lot out of him.
