PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tyson Boggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eemeli Saeldur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boggs kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is "Miami Vice Theme" by Jan Hammer. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 9 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tyson Boggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eemeli Saeldur!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saeldur shoots in for a takedown but Boggs shows good takedown defense.
Saeldur tries for a takedown but Boggs circles away easily

and Boggs counters with a nice double leg into side control. Saeldur won't be happy with that.

Boggs thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Boggs tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Saeldur really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Boggs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Boggs working the body and head with strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Saeldur tries to bench press Boggs off him but Boggs keeps the position.

Boggs thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Boggs working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Boggs tries to get to his feet but Saeldur is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Boggs in his guard.
Saeldur wants to control but Boggs passes easily into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Boggs is looking for a kimura here.
Saeldur wants to get back to full guard.
Saeldur tries to kick Boggs off in order to stand up. Boggs Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Boggs trying to control the action but Saeldur is working from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Boggs decides to stand back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Boggs shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Saeldur trying to control from the bottom.

Saeldur pushes Boggs off and gets back to his feet.
Saeldur fails in his attempt to clinch.
Saeldur fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Tyson Boggs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eemeli Saeldur.

Boggs closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Saeldur quickly recovers to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Boggs has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Saeldur takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Saeldur is bucking up trying to escape but Boggs cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Boggs in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Boggs tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Saeldur defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Boggs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tyson Boggs dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Boggs counters with a single leg into guard. Saeldur didn't expect that.

Saeldur wants to get back to his feet but Boggs passes into half guard.
Saeldur is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Boggs looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Saeldur with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boggs lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boggs working over Saeldur with some ground and pound. Saeldur looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Boggs definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Saeldur looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Saeldur has a hand on Boggs's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Boggs takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Saeldur tries to lock up and control but Boggs gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Boggs looking for a guillotine from mount but Saeldur is having none of it.
Boggs in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.


Saeldur is rocked!
Boggs tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Saeldur is still in real trouble! Can Boggs finish him?
The referee warns Saeldur that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Boggs connects with a bit shot that sees Saeldur covering up! More strikes from Boggs and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Boggs is our winner by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tyson Boggs!
Tyson Boggs took his opportunity to call for a title shot in his post fight interview.
