PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kamil Burczynski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Patton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patton has chosen Marilyn Manson - Born Villain as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Michael Patton was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burczynski on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Patton. Patton obviously looking to wear him down.
Patton misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Burczynski has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Burczynski lands a really nice looking cross but Patton seems unphased.
Patton is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Burczynski.
Burczynski feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Burczynski looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Patton loads up on a big right hand but Burczynski slips the punch.
Burczynski throws a solid leg kick but Patton takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Burczynski.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Burczynski is landing with some decent strikes but Patton is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Burczynski wants to control but instead Patton manages to regain half guard.
Burczynski lands with a punch from half guard.
Burczynski stalling away here and it's allowed Patton to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burczynski postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Burczynski is really struggling to control Patton but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Patton has his foot on Burczynski's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Burczynski works his way back into a safe position though.
Burczynski passes Patton's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Burczynski wants to take a breather but Patton is having none of it.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Burczynski thows a huge punch but Patton dodges it nicely.

Burczynski has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Burczynski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Patton keeps working.

That was a close round but I would say that Kamil Burczynski will probably get the nod.

Patton tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Burczynski was well out of range. Poor timing from Patton.
Michael Patton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Burczynski appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Some bone on bone action there as Burczynski checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Burczynski throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Burczynski wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Patton, who protects the arm well.

Burczynski tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Burczynski has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Burczynski is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Patton fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Burczynski.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Patton escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Burczynski gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Patton is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Burczynski defends well.
Patton takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Burczynski got a little sloppy there for a moment and Patton has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Burczynski has managed to get both his arms back between Patton's legs - danger averted.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

I would just about give that final round to Michael Patton.
