Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hector Barao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renan Zapelini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hector Barao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Renan Zapelini!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barao clinches with his opponent.
Barao has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Zapelini is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Zapelini breaks from the clinch.
Zapelini takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Zapelini fails with a takedown attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Barao as Zapelini shoots in.
Barao tries a head kick but it misses.
Barao looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Zapelini is fending him off so far but Barao persists. Nope, Zapelini circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barao takes the fight into the clinch.
Zapelini tries to pull guard but Barao holds him up against the cage and eventually Zapelini drops back down to his feet.
Hector Barao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Renan Zapelini.

Zapelini has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Barao working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Zapelini wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Barao has him pressed against the cage.
Barao wants to break free but Zapelini has control.
Zapelini lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


It looks like Hector Barao has been cut.
Barao is pressed up against the cage. Zapelini has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Barao down to the mat. Barao avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Barao shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Zapelini defends it nicely.
Zapelini shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Barao pinned against the cage. Barao gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Barao thinks about countering with a body kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Barao shoots in for a takedown but Zapelini shows good takedown defense.
Zapelini leaves Barao with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Barao shoots in for a takedown but Zapelini shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A countering left hand to the body from Zapelini misses.
Zapelini has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Barao is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Zapelini shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Zapelini showed some decent athleticism there.
Zapelini wants to lay and pray for a moment but Barao keeps working.
Barao is concentrating on defense, preventing Zapelini from advancing position.
Barao has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Zapelini is working away from the top position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Zapelini is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Barao has managed to free his arm - good work.

Barao actively working from the bottom here.
Zapelini wants to take a breather but Barao is having none of it.

Zapelini is working for a submission of some sort.
Zapelini stalling away here and it's allowed Barao to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Zapelini decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Barao, up you get!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Zapelini misses with a takedown
and Barao counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Renan Zapelini dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Hector Barao's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Zapelini goes for a double leg but Barao avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Barao continues to drive forward.
Zapelini looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Barao is fending him off so far but Zapelini persists. Nope, Barao circles away and we're back to standing.
Zapelini avoids the head kick by Barao.
Zapelini steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Barao tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Zapelini defends well and Barao ends up having to push Zapelini into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Barao instigates a clinch.
Barao goes for a takedown attempt but Zapelini pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Barao gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Zapelini connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hector Barao. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Zapelini is trying to drag Barao to the mat but Barao just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Barao is trying to pull guard but Zapelini turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Zapelini swings wildly with an uppercut but Barao uses good head movement to avoid it.
Barao is trying to pull guard but Zapelini has him pressed against the cage.
Zapelini fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Barao taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Barao wants a takedown.
Zapelini tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Zapelini manages to break the clinch.
Barao tries to close the distance and clinch up but Zapelini swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Zapelini is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Barao with a body shot.
Barao stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Barao wants it to stay on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Barao tries to clinch but Zapelini is having none of it.
Barao closes this distance looking for a takedown but Zapelini circles away.
Zapelini looks like he wants to counter punch here.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Zapelini.
Barao tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Zapelini fails with a takedown attempt.
Hector Barao is winning the standup battle so far.

Barao has Zapelini up against the cage in a clinch.
Zapelini is defending well against a takedown attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Zapelini pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Barao displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Zapelini.
A combination from Barao does no damage.

Barao closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Zapelini jumps guard.
Barao postures up in Zapelini's guard and throws a big left but Zapelini blocks it.
Barao won't allow Zapelini to sweep him here.
Zapelini is trying to keep Barao in close.

Barao has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Zapelini to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Barao is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Zapelini pulls down on the head and he's put Barao to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Renan Zapelini!
