PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Serget (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Devontae Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Serget comes to the cage accompanied by Friends in lower places. Davis has chosen "It's Okay (One Blood)" by The Game feat. Junior Reid as his entrance music. Bob Serget has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Bob Serget!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Devontae Davis!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A quick step to the side and Serget tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Davis tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Serget manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Davis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Serget moves into the clinch.
Serget is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Davis wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Davis's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Davis is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Davis wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Davis wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Serget has him pressed against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Davis wants to break free but Serget has control.

Serget breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Davis has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Serget keeps the fight on the outside.
Davis wants to clinch but Serget slips to the side

and Serget counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Davis should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Davis wants to stand and escape but Serget is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Serget lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Serget scoring with some ground and pound.
Serget engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Serget's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Serget is working Davis over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Serget controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Serget stops Davis from standing up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Davis wants to sweep but no luck.
Davis wants to stand up but Serget is controlling him.
Davis is looking to stand back up but Serget counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Davis.
Serget drops an elbow to the side of Davis's head.
Davis pushes Serget off looking to stand but Serget dives back in and keeps control.
Serget perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Davis wants to get back to his feet.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Serget connects with a nice short shot to Davis's temple.
Serget moves into full mount! Davis won't be happy about that!
Serget will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Serget lands with some strikes.
Davis is looking to improve his position but Serget isn't that keen on the idea.
Serget lands a couple of good shots and Davis has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Davis has eaten all the pies!
Davis is trapped and Serget is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Serget scores with punches from the back.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Serget. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Davis looks winded!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Serget is landing with strikes. Davis can't take much more of this.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Davis is taking damage to the body and head.
Davis is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Serget has his arm under Davis's chin here. Game over son! Serget squeezes tightly and Davis is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bob Serget!
Bob Serget was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
