PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Balthasar Oosteroom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bob might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Notkea rotta - Itä meidän. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 29 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Billy Bob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Balthasar Oosteroom!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Oosteroom pushes Bob up against the cage in a clinch.

Oosteroom escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Oosteroom throws a right hand that Bob ducks under and follows up with a left that Bob also avoids with ease.
Bob attempts a counter takedown but Oosteroom avoids it well and moves away.
Bob looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Oosteroom misses with an uppercut. Bob saw that one coming.
Oosteroom throws a lazy uppercut
and Bob counters with a stiff right hand.
Bob tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Oosteroom swivels and escapes.
Nice uppercut lands for Bob. That snapped Oosteroom's head back.
Bob tries to score a power double leg takedown but Oosteroom sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bob somewhat.
Danga de danga de dang - Oosteroom scores with a four punch combination!
Oosteroom is looking to clinch.
Bob is looking to counter punch.
Jab by Oosteroom.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Oosteroom tries to clinch up.
Bob keeps the fight on the outside.

Bob looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Bob postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Oosteroom preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Bob loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Oosteroom avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Bob with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Bob won't allow Oosteroom to get back to his feet.

Bob is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Oosteroom is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Oosteroom has escaped and now he's on top!

Bob has a closed guard, preventing Oosteroom from standing up.

Bob looking for a sweep. Not yet Bob, not yet.
Oosteroom postures up.
Oosteroom wants to stand but Bob has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Bob wants to stand up but Oosteroom is controlling him.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bob is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bob misses with a two punch combination.
Oosteroom walks into a jab.
Oosteroom wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Bob ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Oosteroom moves away.
Oosteroom throws a series of punches but Bob avoids them all with ease.
Balthasar Oosteroom is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Oosteroom moves into the clinch successfully.

Oosteroom manages to break the clinch.
Oosteroom lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Oosteroom misses with a wild body shot.
Bob is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Oosteroom.

Oosteroom has Bob up against the cage in a clinch.
Oosteroom utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nice elbow from Oosteroom.


It looks like Billy Bob has been cut.

Oosteroom breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Oosteroom tries to clinch up but Bob circles away and keeps his distance.
Oosteroom misses with the body kick

and Bob decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Oosteroom's guard.
Bob landing with the ground and pound.

Bob drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Oosteroom manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Bob has Oosteroom in his guard.


Bob throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Oosteroom escapes and throws Bob's legs to the side, diving into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Balthasar Oosteroom dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Billy Bob's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Oosteroom stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Oosteroom wants it to stay on the feet.
Oosteroom tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bob swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bob.
Bob lands a right hook to the body.
Bob moves away from the strike by Oosteroom.
Bob went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Oosteroom tries to clinch up but Bob circles away and keeps his distance.
Balthasar Oosteroom seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Oosteroom scores with a kick to the body.
Oosteroom moves in looking to clinch but Bob pushes him off.
Bob connects with a single shot there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Oosteroom jabs Bob right on the nose. Bob blinks but takes it well.
Oosteroom tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bob paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A cross from Oosteroom lands.

Bob changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Oosteroom looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bob trying to control the action but Oosteroom is working from the bottom.

Oosteroom managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Bob.

Bob is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Oosteroom knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Oosteroom avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Bob.

Bob tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Oosteroom regains half guard, as Bob was trying to land strikes.
Bob throwing shots but Oosteroom is blocking nicely.
Bob drops an elbow to the side of Oosteroom's head.
Oosteroom felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Bob not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bob is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Oosteroom won't allow Bob to pass to mount.
Oosteroom tries to kick Bob off but Bob keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Bob lands a big elbow - Oosteroom is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Bob!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Billy Bob!
After winning the bout, Billy Bob thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
