PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Arlen Henderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Pretoka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ken Pretoka will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Arlen Henderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ken Pretoka!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henderson darts in looking for a takedown but Pretoka gets double underhooks and turns Henderson into the cage.
Pretoka scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Pretoka closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Henderson did well to prevent Pretoka getting side control.

Pretoka stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Henderson to get to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pretoka has managed to clinch.

Pretoka tightens his grip and picks Henderson up, before dumping him to the ground. Henderson manages to land in guard.
Pretoka would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Henderson keeping moving, preventing Pretoka from controlling successfully.
Henderson wants to stand but Pretoka is controlling the position.
Pretoka wants to control from the top but Henderson keeps moving.
Henderson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Pretoka postures up in Henderson's guard and throws a big left but Henderson blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Henderson wants to stand but Pretoka is controlling the position.
Pretoka trying to control but Henderson is working from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Pretoka lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Henderson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Pretoka looks like he's trying to stand up.

Henderson seems to be looking for submissions.

Henderson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Pretoka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Henderson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Henderson is working for a kimura but Pretoka is defending it quite comfortably.
Pretoka looks like he's trying to stand up.

Pretoka has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Henderson is working away from the top position though.
Henderson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Pretoka is trying to get back to full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pretoka is controlling Henderson's trapped leg to prevent Henderson from advancing to side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Pretoka dives in and scores a takedown into Henderson's guard.

Pretoka stands and steps away. Henderson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Henderson is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Pretoka can't fight it off and eventually Henderson manages to take the fight to the floor. Pretoka looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Henderson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pretoka is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Pretoka is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Henderson is looking to clinch but Pretoka is avoiding it.
Pretoka is looking to slow Henderson down with leg kicks.
Pretoka tries a head kick but it misses.

Henderson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Henderson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pretoka is just riding it out for now. Henderson eventually gives up the hold.
Pretoka is looking to improve his position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Henderson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Pretoka gets the takedown into side control.
Henderson pushes Pretoka away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Pretoka gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Pretoka tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Pretoka is breathing heavily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Henderson is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Pretoka showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Pretoka clinches up with Henderson and pushes him back against the cage.
Pretoka gets through Henderson's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Pretoka breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Henderson drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Pretoka is not content to let Henderson control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pretoka manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Pretoka looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Henderson makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Pretoka rushes Henderson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Pretoka lands a takedown into guard.

Pretoka gets to his feet - Henderson follows without any prompting.

Henderson gets control of Pretoka's arms and successfully pulls guard. Henderson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Henderson pulls Pretoka in close to his closed guard and prevents Pretoka from doing any damage or advancing position.

Ken Pretoka has got the better of the ground game so far.
Pretoka trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Henderson is looking to stand up but Pretoka isn't so interested in that idea.
Henderson throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pretoka trying to control the position from guard on top but Henderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Pretoka drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Henderson dives on top into guard.

Pretoka takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Henderson throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

I would just about give that final round to Ken Pretoka.
I've got Pretoka winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
