PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Black Jack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamal Mohammed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mohammed has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Jamal Mohammed is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mohammed throws out a loose jab but Jack uses good head movement to avoid it.
Mohammed throws a hook but Jack avoids it easily.
A telegraphed right hand from Jack misses the target.
Jack throws a lazy right hand but Mohammed sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Mohammed moves away from the strike by Jack.
Mohammed ducks right into an uppercut from Jack.
Jack throws a right hand that misses
and Mohammed counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Jack slips a jab from Mohammed.
Mohammed throws a right hand that Jack ducks under and follows up with a left that Jack also avoids with ease.
Jack throws a big counter combination but Mohammed scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Mohammed uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jack.
Jack misses with a looping left.
Mohammed misses with an uppercut. Jack saw that one coming.
Mohammed ducks under a wild hook from Jack.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Jack, as that shot connected.
Jack jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Jack misses with a hook.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Mohammed! But no joy.
Mohammed misses with a right hand
and Jack counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nice uppercut lands for Mohammed. That snapped Jack's head back.
Mohammed throws a nice looking combination but Jack bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
A little feinted left hand from Jack on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Jack scores with a jab to the jaw.
Mohammed slips under a jab.
Jack throws a hook but Mohammed avoids it easily.
Jack ducks under a wild hook from Mohammed.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jack just misses with a punch to the body.
Jack scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
The fighters circle momentarily. Jack darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Black Jack is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mohammed misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mohammed looks winded!
Jack keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mohammed.
Jack shoots in looking for a takedown. Mohammed tries to sprawl out of it but Jack keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mohammed manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jack is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
A punch combination from Mohammed misses.
Jack swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Jack goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Mohammed slips under a jab.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Jack, as that shot connected.
Mohammed misses with a wild body shot.
Jack uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mohammed.
Mohammed blocks a jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jack misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jack connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Jack scores with a crisp jab that stopped Mohammed in his tracks.

Mohammed is rocked!
Donk. Jack catches Mohammed right on the button with a cross.
Mohammed is still on wobbly legs! Can Jack finish him?
Jack is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Jack catches Mohammed napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Mohammed to the canvas!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Jack drops back looking for a leg! Mohammed is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mohammed manages to kick Jack off! Jack jumps back into Mohammed's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jack sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mohammed's guard.

Jack wants to work for an arm triangle but Mohammed is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Jack is pressing down on Mohammed's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mohammed is holding on for now.
Mohammed seems to have recovered his senses.

Jack is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Mohammed is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Black Jack!
