Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Devin Myers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Wooten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wooten has chosen Battle Cry- Judas Priest as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Devin Myers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin Wooten!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wooten lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Wooten.
Wooten misses with a wild combination.
Wooten fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Myers with a poor takedown
letting Wooten counter with a right hand.


It looks like Devin Myers has been cut.
Wooten connects with a body shot that sends Myers's belly button to the back.
Myers checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Wooten leaves Myers with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Wooten dips to his left and cracks Myers with an uppercut!
Wooten catches Myers with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Myers throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wooten was covering up waiting for the punch and Myers finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Our spies down at at Main Event Gym inform us that Wooten has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Myers postures up in Wooten's guard and throws a big left but Wooten blocks it.
Myers is pushing down on Wooten's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wooten is fighting to maintain full guard but Myers has managed to sneak the leg through.

Myers wants to control but Wooten is keeping him busy.

Myers is looking for a kimura but Wooten is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Myers to get the leverage.
Myers working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Myers has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Wooten really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Myers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Myers can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wooten is looking to escape.
Myers throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Wooten enables Myers to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Wooten manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Myers seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Myers closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Myers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Myers decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Myers lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Wooten down.

Myers shoots in for a takedown but Wooten shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Wooten throws a right hand that Myers ducks under and follows up with a left that Myers also avoids with ease.

Wooten does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

and Myers counters with a shoot takedown. Wooten fights it but they end up in guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Devin Myers.
I think Myers has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
