PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arvo Laar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don T. Bill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bill. Laar comes to the cage accompanied by some random 90's estonia dance song i found on youtube. The key to victory for Arvo Laar has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arvo Laar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Don T. Bill!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laar lets loose with a powerful body kick. Bill will feel that in the morning.
Laar looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Laar lands a high kick!
Bill fails with a takedown attempt.
Laar tries a head kick but it misses.
Bill drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Laar defends it well.
Bill tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Laar defends well and Bill ends up having to push Laar into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Laar goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Bill tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Laar manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Bill moves out of range as Laar throws a body kick.
Laar fakes the leg kick and cracks Bill in the body.
Bill shoots for a double leg takedown but Laar sprawls well. He's pushed Bill's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Arvo Laar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don T. Bill.
Bill tries to close the distance and clinch but Laar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Laar appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Bill takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Bill shoots in but no luck this time.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bill has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bill there as he acknowledges the shot.

Horrible takedown attempt by Bill or perhaps it was just good defense by Laar, which made it look bad.
Laar throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Laar throws a sloppy head kick and Bill moves out of range easily.
Laar explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Bill steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Laar. That one must have hurt.
Arvo Laar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Laar throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Laar lands a nice looking body shot.

Bill closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Laar is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bill asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Bill wants to take a breather but Laar manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Bill.
Laar wants to stand and escape but Bill is having none of it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bill content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Laar had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bill defends it easily.
Bill postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Laar can't keep his opponent in guard - Bill advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Laar on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Bill tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Laar paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Laar fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bill looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Bill counters with a nice double leg into side control. Laar won't be happy with that.

Laar is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bill can do to turn this around?

Bill throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Laar is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bill scores with a couple of nice shots.

Bill has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

You get the feeling that Laar really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Bill goes for an armbar but Laar turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Laar.

Bill has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Laar can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Don T. Bill has got the better of the ground game so far.

Bill is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Laar defends well.

Bill takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Laar swings wildly with an uppercut but Bill uses good head movement to avoid it.

Laar tries to throw a body punch but Bill avoids it by throwing Laar back against the cage.
Laar wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Laar has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Bill keeps control of Laar as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Bill wants the takedown. Laar is fighting it off but Bill persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Laar's guard against the cage.
Bill is pushing down on Laar's leg trying to pass to half guard. Laar is fighting to maintain full guard but Bill has managed to sneak the leg through.

Laar makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Arvo Laar is winning the standup battle so far.
Bill shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Laar sprawls well. Laar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bill gets slowly back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Arvo Laar showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Laar has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Arvo Laar was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
