The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gomez clinches.
Paniikki tries to pull guard but Gomez forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Still in the clinch, Gomez scores with a nice short uppercut.

It looks like Pelle Paniikki has been cut.

Paniikki is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Gomez to keep the fight standing.

Paniikki tries to free his leg and advance position but Gomez is retaining full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Paniikki has his foot on Gomez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gomez works his way back into a safe position though.
Gomez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Gomez gets to his feet - Paniikki follows without any prompting.

Paniikki shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gomez's guard.

Paniikki wants to pass the guard but Gomez is defending well.
