And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marco Macotti!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Macotti tries to score a power double leg takedown but Koko sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Macotti somewhat.
Macotti avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Macotti shoots in for a takedown but Koko shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Macotti gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Koko has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Koko escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nice takedown defense from Koko. No joy for Macotti on that attempt.
Michael Koko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marco Macotti.
Macotti looks for a takedown but Koko sprawls well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Macotti misses with a takedown attempt - Koko sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Macotti shoots in looking for a takedown. Koko tries to sprawl out of it but Macotti keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Koko manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Koko fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Macotti.
Macotti shoots in and drives through. Koko sprawls well.
It looked like Koko wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Koko lands with a nice body kick.
Macotti darts in looking for a takedown but Koko gets double underhooks and turns Macotti into the cage.
Nice straight punches there by Koko. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Koko.
Macotti closes this distance looking for a takedown but Koko circles away.
Koko knocks out Macotti with a massive right hand! The ref tackles Koko before he can follow up with any more strikes and that's it everyone. Koko picks up the big W with a huge KO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Michael Koko!
Michael Koko retains his light heavyweight title!
An out of breath Michael Koko thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
