PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dredrick Tatum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vit Tu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tu is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Blanket on the ground. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dredrick Tatum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vit Tu!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tatum throws an overhand right that lands on Tu's shoulder, as Tu tries to avoid the shot.
The fighters circling - Tatum throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Tu dives in and scores a takedown into Tatum's guard.
Tatum is pulling down on Tu's head. It's preventing any offense from Tu, at least for the moment.
Tatum is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tu accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tu is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Tatum defends well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Tu working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tatum doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tatum manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Tatum stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tu swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Tu is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Tatum pushes down on Tu's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Tatum seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Tu tries to get to full guard but Tatum has control of the leg.
Tatum is taking a breather. Tu says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Tu is looking to improve his position.

Tatum perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Tatum has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tu is looking for a sweep. Tatum is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Tatum wants to control but Tu is keeping him busy.

Tu will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Tu walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Tatum scores with a nice body kick.
Tu moves out of range of the strikes.
Tatum dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Tatum lands a really nice looking cross but Tu seems unphased.
Tatum moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Tu uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Tatum.
Tatum takes a shot to the body in his stride.
A chopping leg kick lands by Tatum.

Tu looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Tatum!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
