Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dorian Yates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dorian Yates!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Franklyn Lucas and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yates looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Hughes swinging wildly here.
Yates is looking to clinch.
Yates gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Yates tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hughes swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And Hughes tries to counter it with a takedown but Yates pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Hughes circles away from the clinch attempt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Yates. Hughes does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hughes changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hughes swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

Yates fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hughes.

Hughes wants to control from the top but Yates keeps moving.

Hughes throws a big counter head kick but Yates avoids it with no problem.

And Hughes tries to counter it with a takedown but Yates pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Yates tries to land a leg kick but Hughes saw it coming and moves away.
Yates tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hughes sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Yates somewhat.
And Hughes tries to counter it with a takedown but Yates pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Hughes doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Hughes uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Yates.
Yates scores with a hook to the body. Hughes takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
