Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Phil Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Lord (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Lord!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Phil Schofield and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Taylor gets a takedown into half guard.
Taylor throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Taylor trying to pass the guard but Lord defending well.
Taylor wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lord keeps working.

Taylor stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Lord to get to his feet.
No luck for Taylor with that takedown attempt.
Lord unleashes a big counter combination but Taylor bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lord pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Taylor back to the cage. Lord follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Lord throws a right hand that Taylor ducks under and follows up with a left that Taylor also avoids with ease.
Taylor throws a quick counter head kick but Lord was just out of range.

Lord connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Lord!
Lord lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Taylor circles away quickly and effectively.
Lord keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Taylor closes the distance and clinches up with Lord, looking for a takedown. Taylor pushes Lord against the cage but Lord circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phil Taylor. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lord stuffs the takedown attempt from Taylor. Taylor gets slowly back to his feet.
A nice combination there by Lord.
Lord throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Taylor stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Taylor counters with a single leg into guard. Lord didn't expect that.
Taylor has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Taylor is breathing heavily.

Lord has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Taylor off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Taylor fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lord swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Taylor really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lord scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Taylor has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Lord takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

and Lord connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Taylor is rocked!
Taylor shoots for a takedown but Lord saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Taylor.

Lord scores with a punch to the head.
Lord lands with an overhand left.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lord dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Taylor doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Lord counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Lord swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lord lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Lord is working the combinations to good effect here.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

John Lord dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Lord stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lord wants it to stay on the feet.

As Lord looks to move away, Taylor throws a big counter combo bu Lord just gets out of the way.

Taylor is looking to clinch but Lord is avoiding it.
Lord thuds a left hand into Taylor's body.
Taylor throws a low kick but it's checked well by Lord.

Taylor shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The fighters are battling for position here. Lord manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Taylor stops Lord from standing up.
Taylor controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Taylor gets to his feet. Lord looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Taylor shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lord as he avoids it easily.

Oh Taylor is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Taylor changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lord looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
