Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Denver Santiago (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lauricio Aranda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lauricio Aranda will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Denver Santiago!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lauricio Aranda!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Thiago Cunha and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aranda tries to land a body kick
and Santiago counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Aranda is looking to clinch.
Nice defenses there by Aranda.
Santiago really is a fat lump.
Santiago looks to land a right hand but Aranda moved out of range.

Aranda closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Santiago to the mat! Santiago manages to get full guard.
Aranda wants to control from the top but Santiago keeps moving.
Aranda with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Aranda in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Santiago is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Aranda is trying to keep Santiago in close.

Aranda is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Santiago might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Aranda looking for a guillotine here but Santiago defends easily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Aranda shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Santiago's guard.
Aranda is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Aranda gets to his feet. Santiago looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Aranda gets tackled into the cage by Santiago. Santiago maintains the clinch.
Santiago jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Aranda walks away with a smile on his face. Santiago gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Santiago swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Aranda fails in his attempt to clinch.
Santiago tries to counter by clinching up but Aranda breaks away and moves out of range.

Santiago seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Aranda.
Santiago takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Aranda advances to full mount.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Santiago is squirming around, avoiding Aranda's attempts to control the action.
Santiago is trying to reverse the position but instead Aranda has taken his back - oops!

Aranda shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Santiago napping and manages to drive through into side control!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Aranda tries to stand but Santiago is controlling his head.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Santiago tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Aranda wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

and Santiago counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Santiago.
Aranda wants to break free but Santiago has control.

Aranda controls Santiago momentarily but Santiago frees himself.

Aranda not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Santiago wants to stand but Aranda is controlling his posture from full guard.
Aranda tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Aranda has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Aranda thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Aranda avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Aranda shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Santiago's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Aranda stands and steps away. Santiago gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Denver Santiago is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Santiago knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Aranda on the ground.

Santiago is staying active underneath Aranda, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Santiago is looking to stand back up but Aranda counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Santiago.

Aranda closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Aranda lands in his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Aranda works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Aranda is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.


Santiago is rocked!
Aranda frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Oh Santiago is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Santiago is just holding on here. Aranda manages to take his back.
Aranda lands shots from the back.

Aranda is cranking Santiago's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Santiago! He's tightened the choke and Santiago is tapping out!
